Son of a branch family of the infamous Blademaster family and owner of the Apfel coffeehouse, Beangrinder Genjuro Koizumi is an all around odd fellow. Many rumors surround him-- that he once stopped a car with nothing but his fist, that he's survived a fall from the tenth story of a building, that he suplexed a charging feral hog and made it his supper-- but the man himself never seems interested in commenting on them. Instead, he busies himself with his twin interests: perfection of the art of brewing coffee, and perfection of the art of hand-to-hand combat-- strange bedfellows, but Genjuro swears by the importance of both. Despite his strange and intense nature, he's known to have a heart of gold underneath, and regularly "forgets" to charge customers for their drinks if they can't afford them. He even took in the orphaned Viola Harper when her home colony abandoned her, raising her like his own daughter-- albeit including passing on his school of martial arts to her, adjusted for her one-armed physique.
