Logsplitter Raul Scavo was just another lumberjack in Selvaggia before Skyseer Caterina Messore entered his life. It was his connection to her that opened his eyes to so many things– the true beauty of the colony he called home, the depth of its people and culture… and how the Empire’s leadership threatened all of it, chipping away day by day. It was with this awakening that the two of them secretly joined forces with the Unemployed, and helped plan the uprising they were certain would finally break the shackles of their people, and chase the clouds from over Selvaggia. To solidify the determination, the two made a promise– that when Selvaggia was free, and only then, they would be married. Unfortunately, it was not to be; the Empire brought the full might of their military to bear, and while Raul survived due to the mercy of Wallclimber Russel Swanson[1], Catia had no such luck– determining her as a figurehead of the rebellion, the Imperials who cornered her barely hesitated to snuff the burning fire of her life.
With Catia gone and the Unemployed in disarray, Raul became a shell of his former self.[2] He lost contact with the Messores, to an extent that left the Stonefitter anxiously checking the news to ensure that he was still hanging on. It seemed as though his will to rebel– his will to even live– had been snuffed out with Catia. But when he found out the Unemployed had begun to organize again– that they had secured a supplier, and were just in need of leadership– he remembered the power Catia had to bring people together, to become more than they thought they could be. Casting off his former self, he took on the name of Wolf Lord, a rallying figure to bring the Selvaggians together. Before he could die, he would see Selvaggia freed. That is the only way he could look Catia in the eye when he sees her again.
