The current overseer of Maritza and its associated mines, Golddigger Maxwell Fischer was assigned his title after the previous Golddigger was demoted for embezzlement. Perhaps due to being shackled to the derisive title of his predecessor, or perhaps due to his colony’s (and his own) dependence on supplies from the surface to survive, Maxwell is known to be something of a pushover, giving in easily to the demands of GMS, even to the detriment of the miners under his care. Perhaps this is why many of them have no qualms with referring to him by an even more insulting title behind his back, the Pillpopper– in reference to the overseer’s habit of frequent use of anxiety medication, a clear symptom of Maritzaphobia, a well-documented affliction among those who live their lives in the abyss.
